He had it within his power to get these terrorists tried in a military court before his term ended.
My question is why didn't he get it done?
That is a durn good question especially if you add, "Why is it being done now?"
Such trials along with POW releases are usually done at the conclusion of hostilities.
These trials and executions (if it gets that far) are more likely to motivate rather than to dissuade other attackers. That can only add to the confusion and disorganization. Perhaps Rove and Bush understood these things.
Most certainly O and his followers understand and relish the potential. Their end plan is to personally benefit from the confusion and disorganization.
Besides the obvious retaliation probability, I see lots of other national security implications. To name a few:
Expose classified military documents.
Expose classified operational tactics and techniques.
Expose secret hardware used to gather info.
Disrupt/curtail CIA operations.
Disrupt/curtail NSA operations.
Damage military morale.
Disrupt our war-fighting capability by bringing loyal Americans to trial.
To answer my own question, I believe this is why it is being done now.
Labeling O and his followers as community organizers is a mistake. They are community disorganizers and they do it for only one reason - raw power. These community organizers disorganize communities because that is what Alinski told them they must do in order to create a revolution in which they can become all powerful.
Disorganization is the essence of revolution. As you read the quotes below ask yourself, does this sound like organizing for peace, tranquility, and the pursuit of happiness.
