Encouraging. Oldest friend is a substitute teacher in the SF Valley, so I hear stories all the time. He is encouraging, but ten is the age that the immigrants begin to change. He doesn't know why, but their grades fall off a cliff.

Also, once grade school is over, most of the white kids seem to move to private schools, so they can get a good education. Academics plunge in Hispanic dominated LA schools after mid-school.
