I do not believe the majority of the people want this healthcare - almost every poll I see confirms this. However I think most people would support it if it was done to benefit the people, not special interests.

What our congress have come up with so far will end up costing me more (less affordable)for my healthcare and will not improve my coverage or services. Until I see the final bill, I can hope for them to do the right thing.

The Republican party only cares about big business and nothing of the working man

I would say both parties have failed the people miserably and most are entangled into seeking and staying in power first, thus beholden to special interests and not necessarily working for the people. It is marketing that the dem party is for the people. They are not - they just have different special interests.

What the right wing fails to understand is their obligation to the "social contract" in a democracy.

I don't think there is a failure to understand. There is a difference of opinion of what this social contract is. Most people are glad to help their fellow humans that are in need. However there is personal responsibility that is part of the social contract. I should not be asked to bankroll those that chose not to educate themselves, threw away their lives partying or won't work when they can. After all our President is a black American that rose from little. Anything is possible but takes work and diligence. However those that have hit hard times not of their own making, yes most people are glad to help. There is also a difference in thought in what the govt role should be.

You tend to see things through one lens. I believe there are many good people in both the democratic and republican parties and most are good, caring people. In fact in my many years, I would say about 95% of people are good regardless of country, religion, party, etc.

Blessings to you

Neil
