OK then. I almost mentioned Laffer, but didn't know whether you would understand the reference. Then you do understand that tax revenues can be maximized by getting the tax structure and level just right. The bottom line is that "any tax cut is a good tax cut" is not a smart statement, if you believe that Laffer was on to something. As far as Afghanistan, I'm with you. If he splits the baby, I'll be sorely disappointed in him. I'm not looking for him to play politics. If we decide to escalate in Afghanistan, then let's not have any half measures. As to Obama competence to make war decision, he has already far outwitted Bush. Bush was clueless. His execution was awful. Obama is a smart man who asks the right questions. So I'm expecting decisions that are well thought out. Afghanistan is his first real test on that front, in my opinion. Let's see how it plays out.
