Well, I don't consider myself a Dem. I consider myself an American. You call someone a Dem like its an insult. But I'll remind you, if you got your way and we all were GOP, then we'd be no better than Russia or China...a one party system. And we'd probably be in continuous warfare. If there's one thing the GOP always seems to be engaged in is either wars or business.
This country is great, because we encourage dissent and free flow of ideas. Instead of vilifying someone for not agreeing with you, you should recognize that there are more than one path to the same destination.
Having said that, I agree with you on nuclear power. The Dems have not helped things. In fact, there are a whole host of issues, I don't agree with the Dems on. However, one has to prioritize the issues if he is to ever make a decision on who to vote for. My number one priority for this country is oil independence and renewable energy, because it will ensure our future economic prosperity, our national security, and it will help slow down global warming. It's a trifecta. Everything else pales in importance to me. That is the number 1 reason I voted for Obama and the Dems in 2008.
As far as Health Care, I'm also for reform, because it is a non-competitive industry as evidenced by ever increasing prices and ever decreasing benefits. Something has to change and the GOP isn't willing to offer any alternatives. So I'll go with the Dems on that one too, because at least they recognize the need to do something.
As long as the GOP is the party of no action and sticks their head in the sand on important generational issues, I will not be voting for them. And I sure as hell won't vote for idiots like Palin and McCain. Maybe Romney. If the GOP nominates Romney the next time around, I might believe sanity is returning. |
