Friedman is a good journalist. However, I'm continually amazed out how willfully blind people in the GOP can be. They are simply working against their own best interests. Not sure why they would do that. Usually, the GOP is the first to beat down the door to secure a new business opportunity. And yet, they fight this one tooth and nail. It makes no sense, except when you start to understand that they are getting paid well by oil and coal to maintain the status quo.
