Even if that is true, and it isn't, you have put your finger on the core of the problem. There haven't been a lot of cases like this. So y'all are just making up all those dire consequences. And some of your core premises are clearly faulty. AQ and other terrorist organizations have had years to work themselves up over the detention of the Gitmo detainees. And they haven't done squat. There is no reason to believe that suddenly they will, just because there is a series of trials.

It IS true. We have little, if any, experience with trials of t his sort.

It isn't "making up dire consequences" to those who understand the issue. The GITMO detainees were NEVER a source of problems amongst the Middle East. That was just a liberal nutcase claim. There was never any evidence GITMO had any effect at all on "working anyone up".

This trial is not just about people getting worked up. It shows America's weakness and invites future attacks, since detainees realize that even if caught they will have air time to justify the cause, plenty of publicity, and even the possibility, however remote, of defeating the infidels at their own game. It also sets a highly undesirable precedent of rewarding our attackers with the benefits that our Constitution provides (a benefit no country in their own land would afford them).

This is wrong on so many levels a discussion of what is wrong with it could go on for hours. The reasons in FAVOR of doing it are very concise, because there really aren't any.
