Sometimes it depends on whether we are invoking scientific reality, or some other, more nutjobby, reality. For example, the folks who think the Earth is 10k years old are, imo, nutjobs- even if they can get a bunchy of buddy nutjobbers to validate their goofy opinions. All scientific data are against their nutjobby positions. Some elements of the homophobia bandwagon fall in to similar nutjob territory. So yeah, if we are invoking the "norms" of nutjobs who believe nutjobby stuff, of course it might seem "normal". But in some cases there are answers, and facts are not, always, stupid things. I know I am entitled to my viewpoint. And since my viewpoint is also backed by psychological and scientific facts, I'm pretty comfortable with it.
