My suspicion is that those who are foolish enough to believe we can continue to spend what we don't have, and that we can be a great nation, that doesn't produce anything will be on the wrong side of history. We are probably at the beginning of the end of empire.

gawd, how do you sleep at night? The whole point behind fixing health care is that we NOW spend double what other countries do and get nothing for that extra expense. If conservatives would stop moaning for a bit we could get even a better solution. Not produce anything? You've got to be kidding; how about Boeing producing airplanes, Cat and John Deere farm machinery, Microsoft software, Apple just a bunch of creative stuff, Biotechs. The list is virtually endless - excepting the 8 missed Bush years when we did go backward missing much of the green inventiveness and stem cell development.
