He is the chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government. If he had said that during the trial it probably would have led to a mistrial. the president is just another citizen in the eyes of the society. It's more than just stupid. It belies the stated purpose of the trial - to show the world how advanced and concerned we are about everyone's rights. Obama told the world this is a kangaroo court.
