>>> Right now by getting the hell out of the way.
Do you REALLY want to live in a country where there is a single political party running the show, without the ability for a dissenting view to be heard, let alone, to stop bad legislation?
Is that really your idea as to how things need to be done?
Keep in mind that throughout history, the GOP has never once passed sweeping reform like this health care measure without a bipartisan vote. Never. Minor things, maybe. And in fact, FDR and LBJ's social programs passed with bipartisan support.
I have a hard time understanding those who think a lopsided government is a good thing. We are getting ready to get a health care bill that most Americans don't want -- one written by essentially two people -- Reid and Pelosi -- both of whom are out of touch with the American People. If 80% supported it, I wouldn't be FOR it, but I would be tolerant of it.
A broad piece of legislation like this must have bipartisan support or it is destined to fail. In '10, or '12, or even '16, sooner or later, there will be a GOP controlled legislative process. And they're going to have to go in and carve this turkey of a bill into a million pieces, making already bad legislation that much worse.
Lopsided government is not good for this country. Whether it is the GOP in control or the liberals in control, it doesn't matter very much. It is tearing down America.
Is that what you really want? |
