out of context, god's judgements appear harsh. however, they are entirely consistent with the actions of a good god who, ultimately, put evil people out of their misery for a time until such time that he resurrects them to a much better world.
he punished evil doers. second, the punishment was only temporary. they will be resurrected and given the opportunity to live right at some point in the future. those killed by god will thank him once they realize the level of their depravity. yes, children of these evil folks were killed by god, too. keep in mind, the punishment is temporary - they will be resurrected into a much better world (see ezekiel 37). also keep in mind that these children were soon to be evil grown people. in a very real way, god simply did the kind thing and put these evil people out of their evil misery.
humans are scum. they leverage whatever they can for personal gain. god becomes a genie that keeps them from taking responsibility for their lives. he becomes a club with which to beat those who disagree with the person. he becomes a method to control others for person gratification and gain. all those gods, along with lloyd's god, are imaginary.
the bible is pretty clear that people claiming jesus is the christ (christians!) will be the many and will deceive the many. this is nothing new.
Amos 5:14 - Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.
god is good.
