Yep, exactly the same crime. No difference at all.
If you accept one, than the other is no different.

They just make you believe something and then take your money. My mother has wrinkles after years of cremes and lots of money. To bad. Not what the ads promised.

It sounds like you like cosmetics and hate reducing your consumption (Choclate vs veggies) and thus find the first acceptable and the other not. But it is actually the same.

If global warming turns out to be fake it is just a big misallocation of funds, just like cosmetics. And in both cases it takes some time to find out.

And interestingly enough, for the economy it doesn't matter who takes your money, the money will flow back into the economy either way, on it's way to be spend on another item.
