ravines and canyons I think of in terms of southern cal. bigger spaces. deeper spaces. a hill there is what is called a mtn down here. :)

the spaces between. a hollow is an 1/4 inch to a canyon's 2 inches. or perhaps kinda like that.

and the trees are thicker in the south. denser.

first time I drove over the grapevine in CA I was amazed at the brown in summer. brown in summer???
