Our ravines differ from Cali in that many/most are much more densely forested and full of thorny blackberries and other growth, and they are very narrow at the bottom and with streams and creeks.

Our canyons vary also. We have an area in the mid-eastern section that is the Grand Canyon of Wa state only on a smaller scale but really still quite big. River at bottom but farms and orchards lining the sides.
