a gully is a natural geological feature for water run off

and ravines. that's what I was thinking... they have to do with water going thru and unlike a hollow, hope you don't live in them.

I been in Salt Lake City, but wandering around the wilds of Utah would be incredible.

we are criss-crossed by streams here, and ditches formed by water through fields that farmers worked deeper to run the water through to keep their fields dry for growing. water is a constant.

the river here used to run far far deeper. my granny said when she was a child, they had a rope bridge over it for crossing. and the rock walls run 20ish feet high above the water now. now you can walk across it in most places, if you can skip rocks.
