it didn't have a rhythym? that's what I find with crickets... they are rather precise, so you fall into it. I always like them at night... the only really bad night in the holler (pre durn treefrogs on the mountain) was when Papa finally caught the hedgehog that had been getting into his crops, and just outside my sis & I's window, he chopped its head off with a hoe. that was rather gruesome. but it had to happen... we sorta got that. but still it was an icky sound. hoe thru bone is not purty.
