Mark,

I think Conseco is an excellent but here at 44. I belive that $3.50 is
very doable for 98. I continue to here rumors that a big deal is in the works, more than 2 billion in size, but I can not figure out who it could be. You have to remember that Conseco is one of only 2 S&P 500 stocks that is not covered by either Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter nor Smith Barney. My broker says that Smith Barney will pick them up before the end of the year (they will have merged with Solomon by then, who also does not cover CNC). My long term outlook for interest rates is to see them under 6% looking as low as 5.5% in 98 which will push more biz into the VA side away from the Fixed side which hurts margins. Still looking for 60-65 in 12 - 18 months. Good Luck. Also do look at Brightpoint (CELL) another Indianapolis based company, the been hit from the high 40's down to the lowe 30's. I think the stock will bee 100+ within the next 30 months.

John
