Invention is caused by a combination of freedom and creative intelligence. The inventive have to be free to have a go at their ideas. They also have to have the brain power to do it. Some religious places, such as the USA are by definition free because any looney supernatural idea is permitted. It's not the religion which is enabling, it's the freedom to be looney. No government authority dictates the right was of thinking. In China, thinking is illegal, punishable by gaol or death or simply a beating. So there isn't a lot of inventing there. In Africa, they have freedom to think [sort of - if they keep out of the way of the bosses and criminals] but lack property rights and lack the creative intelligence. In Moslem countries, there is plenty of religion but it's autocratic totalitarian style living, not free-thinking religious selection. It's death by stoning for being an apostate, beating for deviant thinking. It helps to have the right genes. Ashkenazi Jews have lots of them and those genes are spread around the gene pool hither and yon. It's not that they are Jewish, it's that they inherited the genes from north west India, Bedouin, Palestinian, Moroccan. Mqurice
