Those clinics are not the only such resource. I live 40 miles from LR and there is a free clinic here that will see anyone anytime for anything. I'm sure LR has facilities that are at least as good.

In NOLA, there are efforts underway to reopen Charity Hospital which was renowned for years for providing FREE medical care to anyone who walked or was carried in the door. My wife was a medtech there decades ago and only after Katrina was it closed.
