Anadigics, WIN Semi ink foundry deal

Posted:08 Oct 2009

Anadigics Inc. and GaAs foundry WIN Semiconductors Corp. have announced a strategic agreement for the design and manufacture of GaAs microwave monolithic ICs (MMIC).

The relationship forms the cornerstone of Anadigics' hybrid manufacturing strategy which provides for a mix of internal and external manufacturing capability to ensure customer demand can be met at all times. WIN has agreed to provide Anadigics with GaAs foundry processing services to meet customer demand for its high-performance, RF ICs. The foundry agreement complements the continued production of industry-leading products at Anadigics' 6-inch GaAs manufacturing facility in New Jersey.

"With this new relationship, not only will we be able to meet the increasing customer demand, our design teams will be able to leverage a range of additional technologies in order to produce the industry's highest performance, highest quality RF products for our customers," said Mario Rivas, CEO at Anadigics.

The foundry deal is a key component of Anadigics' new hybrid manufacturing strategy. Together with its in-house manufacturing facility, the company can continue to deliver RF devices to the wireless and broadband marketplaces. Consumers and businesses continue to demand instantaneous connection anywhere, anytime, a need which is met by the delivery of the industry's highest performance parts.

"Anadigics has a strong reputation for its high performance RF devices, and we look forward to making our technologies available to their RF designers," commented Dennis Chen, chairman of WIN Semiconductors. "Like Anadigics, our business culture is very customer-centric, which is why WIN has become the largest pure-play GaAs foundry in the world with ten years of manufacturing excellence and innovation."

"Anadigics is totally committed to delivering quality products to customers around the world. This strategic agreement and implementation of our hybrid manufacturing strategy will ensure that we have the capacity to ramp up to meet growing product demand while ensuring we meet our own high internal standards for quality, delivery and customer satisfaction," stated Russ Wagner, VP of operations at Anadigics.
