Wrong. When you engage in a war of choice like Iraq, you'd damn well better evaluate the cost in terms of dollars and lives and figure out what we're going to get out of it in dollars and lives.

The only wars you don't worry about the cost on are those that are wars of last resort, wars that we have no choice but to fight. The initial attack on Afghanistan and the drone and special forces attacks on Al Qaeda fall into this category. Iraq was a waste of time, money, and American lives. It should never have been fought. So it is fair game to ask what the return on investment was. The decision that Obama is making right now about a troop surge in Afghanistan is also in that category of discretionary wars. We have no business escalating there. We should bring our troops home now and continue to harrass the Taliban and Al Qaeda with drones and special forces. Forget the nation building. We have nation building to do right here at home.

And btw, you keep expressing the opinion that tax increases kill the economy instantly and yet you have never posted proof of that. I have posted several proofs that your opinion is wrong and I notice you never respond to that, because it doesn't jive with your misconceptions.
