This might be 5-10 years down the road but the people who haven't left the country will eventually revolt, probably shortly after the Chinese government cuts off the line of credit. What happens in the end will probably be determined by what the top brass in the US military decides is in the best interests of the country. Either the people will be oppressed or a whole bunch of government officials will be imprisoned/executed for corruption to force a change in the path of the government. The current government path is unsustainable, so something will happen. Based on my studies of history, I don't like the people's odds.
