I'd guess you are too pessimistic. I'd never have guessed under Bush I, that 8 years later Clinton would run a surplus. I'd also never have guessed that a Dem would do it. It would be interesting to know how many economic pundits predicted that one 8 years in advance?

Regarding where to move is the other interesting problem. I've lived about 1/3 of my life outside the USA and would like to again live outside the USA (in the tropics) but every time I go looking, I find paradise has significant problems as well.
