Swine flu has been and gone in NZ. It's quite a nasty respiratory infection, but no big deal.

It hangs on and whacks away at lungs, but nearly everyone survives the inconvenience.

We need to keep our panic ready for a recombined H5N1 with a virulent human flu. With 70% mortality, H5N1 is a reason for serious panic if it gets going. Fortunately, it has been running out of vectors of transmission in the avian world and losing position in the human realm too. It has done its run by the look of it.
