There was an excellent segment on 60 Minutes this Sunday, about how expensive death is in this country. 18-20% of the dying end up in the Intensive Care Unit, where the average charges run $10,000/day.

Saw the segment... very good.

When it's grannie's time, we really DO need to pull the plug on grannie!

Or at least not pay for it through Medicare. If Grannie or her family want to pay cash, or get supplemental insurance for artificial life extension, then that's fine.
