i-node, your response was one purely of opinion, instead of posting proof of your assertions. So can you please post proof so that we can elevate this debate?
- Like the fact that it will result in trillions of dollars in new debt;
Proof please. I've already posted proof that at least for the next two decades it will result in deficit reduction by as much as $750B.
- Like it will institutionalize rationing of health care making bureaucrats, not your doctor, in charge of your health care;
This is a common GOP claim, but again, there is no proof of this. No where in the bill does it state that health care will be rationed.
- It will impose more unfunded mandates on the states which are, of course, already broke;
Proof? What unfunded mandates?
- It will place unprecedented power in the hands of bureaucrats to make life and death decisions on the part of the American people;
No proof of this. Exactly how will bureaucrats have life and death decision making power? Nothing in the bill provides for a movement from private doctors making decisions to gov't bureaucrats. This is just another GOP scare tactic.
- It will result in a massive curtailment -- worldwide -- in medical technologies/drug R&D;
Exactly how will it do this? Again, you have no proof. Competition by its very nature drive technological improvement. Today's industry is actually incentivized to drive costs up and reduce benefits. So doing nothing will do more to curtail technology than the passage of the bill.
- It will eliminate Medicare Advantage -- wipe it off the face of the earth, leaving millions of aged without benefits;
Not true. It will certainly cut back on Medicare payments, but it does not eliminate Medicare. Please post proof.
- It will take Part D, the best functioning government health care program in history -- the ONE program that can be considered fiscally responsible, and make it financially untenable.
I think you may be right on this one, but please post proof. I'd be interested in what you find.
- It will kill hundreds of private insurers in the near term, and ultimately lead to a single payer system, which is the stated objective of the Left.
Another GOP scare tactic. Exactly how will it kill private insurers? I don't like the public option either, because I don't think it is needed, but it will not kill any private insurers. The US Post Office is a great example. It certainly didn't kill competition in the parcel/mail delivery industry. A public health option won't crowd out competition either.
The bottom line, i-node, is this. I post articles and link that back up my policy positions and mostly what I get from you another others are responses with your opinions, that sound like a regurgitation of GOP propaganda, with no links or articles to back up your claims. That's not real debate. If we're just going to shout at each other what our opinions are, then that's a waste of time. Show me proof to back up your claims and you may change my mind. And in return, be open to the articles I post and tear them apart if you disagree, but open your mind. The GOP isn't 100% correct on every issue. Every bill proposed has good and bad. You guys live in too much of a black and white world. That's silly and naive. |
