"Well perhaps you'd like to see more of the N.Y. skyline altered I guess. Pretty good accomplishment for dudes who never set foot outside their local village."

It wasn't the Taliban that did that. It was AQ. The Taliban became friends with them when they came to help expel the Soviets, fought with them for years, and it was a matter of honor to support them when we came after AQ. That's how they ended up opposing us.

I don't like the Taliban, they are too fundamentalist and too hard on Afghan women. But, they are NOT our enemies. They oppose us only because we have invaded their country. If we left, they wouldn't come after us any more than they did the Russians. I think they could be made to understand that if they let AQ operate from their land we'd come right back even heavier.

George H. W. Bush, as president, thought they were a force for good, because they stopped the peasants from growing opium, which Muslims frown on. Something we've never been able to do.
