Mike Burke - also has an SI thread - uses a 1/3,1/3,1/3 system of entering and exiting positions. He buys the first third if the stock declines he may buy a second third and if continues its descent he may buy the last third. He does not increase his thirds if it rised instead of declining and on rallies sells a third when it is fairly valued, the second third when fully valued and lets the last third ride to catch the rest of the rally.

I like you have taken positions at what I thought were bottoms or close to it only to find the stock continue to drop to new lows. Burke's buying and selling strategy addresses this problem IMO.

Good Investing!
