I'm sure that Komatsu will eventually be a real competitor. However I don't think this is bad for Cymer, assuming they do their homework and provide good solutions to fab managers problems. Put yourself in the shoes of somebody spending over $1 billion to build a fab. The sucess of the fab operation is essential to corporate survivability. Would you like to intrust your job and the corporation to a single supplier of an absolutely critical item? What if the had a strike, or their plant burned down? I think you would like a second supplier in case of emergency. The real problem is to get enough production lines committed to the kind of architecture that needs DUVL. Then competitive pressures will force all the other semiconductor makers to join the rush to deep UVL. Cymer should get it's share. This threat of competition is a big factor holding down CYMI, but if you think about it competition is not only inevitable, it is good for the industry. The industry leader with the biggest volume always has an advantage.
Go Cymer!
