Write Like Dale Baker
A Contest!!!

What is the single worst sentence in Dale Baker's The View From the Center? According to The View From the Centre index, it comes on reply # 97715

"The fact that this thread has flourished and prospered not far off on the horizon, is the best "up yours" to the folks who would gladly see us obliterated if they could.

Juvenile mockery reflects on those who do it, not their targets. OTOH, we can take some pride in being sneered at by people whose standards we don't respect. Should mean we are doing something right, LOL.”

These sentences have the markings of what might be called the high Baker style (his writing, as opposed to Mme Pangloss’s pomposity): multiple references to how good they are, heavy use of PC vocabulary, slightly offended tone, difficult-to-parse meaning.

Do you think you can write like Dale Baker? If so, we want to hear from you. The goal is to write a sentence that could be mistaken for one from his thread. Keep it to a single sentence of fewer than 150 words and send your entry to ponokee@gmail.com by Friday. We'll publish our favourites December 1.
