Gary, these are excellent ideas. The US seems to have lost the edge to front line technology. I am not sure who the tech czar for Obama is. Us Presidents in the past two decades have floundered big time in laying out the vision for high tech. Prior to that it was the military industrial complex which provided the impetus. But today that is an old concept and newer ones like green technology, green cars and nano tech is the way to go. In such a transformation of the US workforce, jobs are bound to be lost in sectors such as auto etc. But at the same time the newer jobs created will at least make the employment a zero-sum issue at its worst.
