I post on SI primarily when I am looking for a way to challenge my own ideas or the ideas that are just floating around out there, which is really the same thing... as in, 'what do I know or think about this and could I improve on that.' Pushing someone else to comment is a way of testing my own level of understanding. Sometimes it turns out to be just an exercise in writing, which is ok too. Sometimes it is a completely futile effort and sometimes it is entertaining. I don't consider it a waste of my time to spend my time in thoughtful consideration of meaningful concepts. So, that makes two of us.
