I don't think we are paralyzed because our system is fractured- I think we get paralyzed because our system is too much the same. Politicians are afraid of not getting reelected, and thus refuse to do anything bold, even when boldness might be called for. Rather than being a fracture issue, that is a sheeple issue. I suppose it could lead to a wall, but boldness can lead to a wall as well. IMO the natural cycles of history seem to include level plains and walls- and it does not always seem (imo) that there's much you can do about that.
