Andy - Re: "what might happen to Intel's margins"

Everybody keeps talking about the low margins expected because of competition at the low end of the pc market.

I don't hear many comments about the fantastic growth of the high end of the processor market in the server segment. It is in this market segment that Intel is making big inroads. Multiple highest end PPRo or PII processors are in EACH SERVER GOING OUT THE DOOR. I'd venture a guess that this segment of the market is growing much faster than the segment of the market that wants to buy the low end pc box.

I believe that this is a fact that is underreported and underrelized and consequently, that margins and revenue growth for 1998 are currently being significantly underestimated. At current price levels, INTC is very, very cheap.

JMHO.

RE: " but I thought there was a bit of "serves you right if the stock tanks" to it. Why should anyone be happy if others get dragged down? I really don't get it... "

Andy, I may be cynical, but I'm sorry to say that there are actually people out there that feel this way. Very sad and pathetic people.
