That's a big concession from China.They take the whole non-interference thing seriously. I've personally heard so many lectures from them on how China is different and won't go intruding into others affairs.

Framing the issue as a threat to their energy supply+nuclearization of Japan were the right levers to use.

Of course, in the end, there probably will be a big war anyway. I don't see Iran budging.
