Definitely. But it may well turn out that way anyway.

Only win-win outcome is that Iran convinces everyone that they won't build nukes. Not likely. Iranian pride, fear and geopolitics all point in the other direction. And there isn't exactly a lot of mutual trust going around right now.

So if Iran doesn't budge, play out the options:

1) Israel attacks. All hell breaks loose.
2) Israel doesn't attack. Feeling threatened by Shia Iran, Sunni countries in Middle East start arming themselves with nukes (there are rumors that the Saudis have made a deal to buy pre-packaged nukes from Pakistan). In short order you've got a Middle East where Pakistan, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey and Allah knows who else has nukes pointing in every direction. No way is that stable - sooner or later someone makes a mistake and all hell breaks loose, with results even worse than option #1.

This won't end well. That's one reason why I've been buying energy and gold.
