I think a capable and prolific poster like you (having averaged about 9 posts*/day since you came aboard SI in November 1995) will have no trouble taking the lead for a new thread. Your present reluctance to do so is, it seems, due to your disbelief that deflation might have started to rear its ugly head yet.

Do you remember what I wrote in the last paragraph of my post #2602

It looks like the events of the last couple of weeks have sort of caused people to suspect that a deflation scenario might be in its nascent stage. Greenspan tends to believe that the recent market correction has made many people a little poorer and less able to spend more on goods, a circumstance that would not be causing any increase in inflation. And many people now think he is less liable to hike the interest rate. However, I am still inclined to think deflation will be absent if the Feds don't hike the interest rate soon. If they would lower the rate, they'd better to careful as one slip could bring on a deflationary environment.
