Hi EC:
You may well be right but I will stay with my perspective and wait to see what happens. VEN's share price (at least as of yesterday) seems an "air plant" to me.
If you map VEN's ore body location, you come up with some very nasty worries. - it is a long way into the mountain to get at it for starters, but that is just money and time, as you note.
- lots of water to be dealt with as well, and the topography is not the greatest, but again, money and time might make it happen.
- the big problem I suspect will be the indigenous miner population along the valley. They have been there a long while and the law protects them.
Ventanna has a heck of a long way to go. Metallurgy work to be assembled, tons of dough to be raised, permits to be garnered, ore body estimates to be developed, feasibility studies to be completed, etc. I am no mining expert, but it looks like years of money raising ahead to me. GSL is closing in on production and the costs of getting to VEN's ore body (IF it proves to be viable) could be offset by the cashflow that GSL will produce if they amalgamated. Personally, I think GSL would be wise to remain independent and simply wait and see what happens, but I suspect larger players will be making the decisions within the year. Time will tell.
