For all that fear Govt. Healthcare, ask someone on MediCare what they think of it, remember it's Govt. Healthcare.

Yes we all know MediCare needs to change, things like paying full retail prices for drugs, instead of negotiation, is something only Bush could have done, and he did. Economies can no doubt be made, but the coverage is great.

I've just finished a few very rough months. First just after Labor Day I was found to have a Sebaceous Carcinoma on my nose. Little over a week of it's discovery it was removed in a MOHS procedure that went into two days of taking cuts, examining them, taking more, etc. etc. but clear margins and insurance cuts were made and with a hole about the size of a marble in my nose, it was cancer free.

An Oncologist was recommended because this was such an aggressive cancer, he wanted C-T Scans of critical organs and that too was done. A tumor was found in my right kidney, and after some further testing, it was removed a little over a week ago. They're still debating whether it's benign or renal carcinoma, but the last result was it is renal carcinoma.

I spent 6 nights in the hospital as the surgery which saved the kidney got very complicated, but they did save the kidney. I have no idea how much this might have cost, though I expect to see some accounting, but between MediCare, and the Health Insurance I have from my and my wifes work, I doubt if we'll pay anything more than the parking we paid for as some Drs. offices and at the Hospital.

There are many things I think can be done to improve American Healthcare. This is my only overnight experience in a hospital in my life, and Cedars Sinai is first class, but in some ways things haven't improved since my mother died in a hospital nearly 40 years ago. I might write a little about that later. My point is that the coverage and care with MediCare was great, if there is a Govt. Plan that all the Insurance Companies must compete with, I truly believe that care will be improved, and costs will come down.

As for me, I'm sure I'll still have pain for awhile, and been told I can't ski till late January, or more likely February, I'll be fine. I think far to much fear is being expressed about what Obama's trying to do, give it a chance, you'll love it.
