yes, people also forget that we created Bin Laden. We armed and trained his kind to overthrow the Russians in Afghanistan. Then when our purposes didn't align, we became enemies. It was the same thing with Saddam Husein. We armed and trained him and his army to provide a balance of power against the Iranians, after the Shah was overthrown during the Iranian Revolution. Then when our purposes no longer aligned, Saddam became our enemy.

I've always said that the US is its own worst enemy. When we have no viable enemies, we create them. This is why I think we have no business being the world's cop. We're not doing the world nor ourselves any favors by meddling everywhere, telling everyone else how to live, and creating new enemies for ourselves, while our own country crumbles from within. It's just stupidity.
