It's amusing that the word "protectionist" is used as though those taken prisoner are "protected". They are protected in the same way that the Mafia collects "protection money".

NZ, being a minor economic power somewhere near the edge of the planet has been the subject of various protectionist measures by so-called allies like USA, France, Britain which have banned or put quotas and tariffs on NZ products. My attitude is that's their problem. If they don't want low cost good quality products, somebody else will. Sure enough, China seemed to be willing to buy all that was available.

Euroserfs being "protected" by their politicians are like sheep and cows in NZ being protected by farmers who fleece and milk them for all they are worth. Life in Protectionville can be quite pleasant as long as the Sheeple have no aspirations and are happy to munch grass all day and be herded by sheep dogs when it's fleecing time.

What is fascinating is how in large scale Stockholm Syndrome the sheeple vote for more of the same every election. They are frightened of freedom and prefer the farmer to do their thinking for them.
