Jeez, I am glad I live in Canada, the land of the fleeced, and the home of the strange.
We don't have no problems like dat. Medicine, I heard, was free. I believe that is true but our family doctor died 20 years ago, and we are waiting til they send us another so I can ask him about it.
They explained to me how medicare improves the general health of Canadians. If they cut health services to the level they can afford after paying all the civil servants and politicians who run it, the death rate increases for the ill only for a brief period until there are the least number of people dying due to the fact that everybody left by that time mustn't be sick. This is called "the seasonal readjustment of the health targets" or "the Triactor". If your horsemen is up, you are it, win place or show.
Everybody gets the same health care no matter how rich you are. You could spend a million dollars and you still wouldn't get a doctor any faster than the vagrant who just drifted into the needle exchange center. You can take comfort in the fact that your life expectancy and access to quality health care is about the same as that vagrant in this great country.
When you go the Hospital entrance you can get evidence of this, as you realize how well-built these hospitals are. When you open the door, you hear a giant sucking sound ... which incidentally is the care level you can expect at that facility,
expressed in millimetres of political patronage.
