I keep hoping the pressure to cut state spending will prompt more politicians to move to release non-violent drug possession offenders so they can start closing some of those prisons and stop the whole rotten cycle. We'll see. Compelling financial logic often only asserts itself when there are no other stupid (and affordable) alternatives left.
