Vint, the point is that it's not just a few scientists. The whole cultural belief system in Global Warming is what it's about. It's not that they are all secretly messaging each other in a grand conspiracy and a few got caught. Global Warming is a shared belief with little foundation. <However, it's one thing to conclude that because a few scientists did this that there is some world wide conspiracy among scientists at work here. There's no evidence of that. >

I had no idea there were emails when I wrote the snobby post. It was just that the cultural norms which drive cults are manifested in many ways and it has been apparent for years that The Greenhouse Effect is more about belonging to the right group than about actual facts of physics, chemistry and geophysical processes. Discussions with The Greenhouse Effect believers are remarkably akin to discussing things with religious believers - there isn't a reasoning and fact-based discussion to be had, it's just a matter of faith, a requirement to simply believe in a supernatural deity.

Since there is in fact a big jamboree planned for Copenhagen, it is obvious that there is in fact a conspiracy and there is no secret being made of it. They are all conspiring to meet right there and force CO2 laws onto people. There won't be much time set aside during the Copenhagen discussions for people to challenge the ideology.

It has been obvious to me for years that there was in fact a conspiracy of concealment and tendentious CO2 fanaticism. McIntyre for example [just one example] had trouble getting data. People proud of their work should be pleased to have cynics and skeptics look for holes. Taking on the biggest and toughest challengers is the way to demonstrate a robust theory.
