unless he got celebrity treatment at the hospital where he was taken, pictures would have been taken of his facial cuts, blood work would have been done for ETOH and narcotics, for insurance purposes ...and if the doctors believed his injuries were not consistent with his 'story' and believed there was attack of some kind on him, certain states require that medical personnel by law to report their suspicions to the authorities

my impression of the cops was that they didn't WANT to pursue anything (based on the first interview i saw where he cop was quick to say there was no alcohol involved), but if the medical personnel reported his injuries as consistent with domestic violence, they may not have a choice in the matter
