Lazard upgraded American Eagle Outfitters to “buy” from “hold” saying the youth retailer was “one of the clear winners over the post-Thanksgiving period, driven by its planned $20 hoodie promo.” “AEO appeared to benefit from stronger traffic-driving promotions and improving trend-right assortments that should continue to drive accelerated sales trends against easing compares,” Lazard analyst wrote, adding that the retailer didn’t appear to be hurt by the price cutting and promotional activity at rivals Aeropostale and Hollister
