Hi LindyBill

You took my thoughts beyond what was intended, but probably more towards reality.

I was speaking for myself that I lament the loss of the manufacturing and personally will pay higher prices for USA manufactured goods (of equal or better quality) if it would retain more of the manufacturing in the US with the more lucrative jobs for our citizens.

I will bring up the example that has always sat poorly with me. I remember when all of our athletic shoes were made in USA and were getting pricey (past the PF flyer, converse and keds days of our youth). Then all of the sudden more and more of those shoes were made in other Asian countries, yet guess what - the prices of the shoes did not come down. So the companies made more profits due to their lower overhead, but I did not get a better product or better deal and many of my fellow citizens lost their good paying jobs. A net negative for the US in my way of thinking.

Perhaps with the continuing internationalism of Corporations, my thinking is a bit old school, but I think corporations should balance citizenship with the profit motive.

I was not advocating the Govt restricting what one can buy, nor propping up US companies and unions with protectionism.

I think you should be free to choose the best from what the world has to offer.

Regards

Neil
