December 2, 2009 Tacoma Suspect Said to Be Killed by Police By WILLIAM YARDLEY and JACK HEALY SEATTLE — A man suspected of fatally shooting four uniformed police officers was shot and killed by the police early Tuesday, after a manhunt that fanned out through Seattle and beyond, according to news reports. The suspect, Maurice Clemmons, 37, was shot and killed after he challenged Seattle police officers who had been looking for him in a working-class neighborhood in south Seattle, Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, told local news agencies. The Seattle police said they would hold a news conference later in the morning to discuss the shooting.
