I've read many pieces supporting the claim that high speed rail projects are not feasible. The exception being the highly congested corridor between NY and DC.

However, in California it doesn't seem to matter whether or not a project can pay for itself. Especially since the Fed. Govt. is cavalier about bailing out any state having financial problems.
